Bentleys Oyster Bar, Swallow St, London: Restaurant
“Famous for oysters obviously but…finest posh cod and chips. Light battered fish and beautifully crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside chips!” Graeme Horne

“The Woolpack is a great pub for a spot of food and a few beers - I have been there twice on a Sunday evening and enjoyed the fish and chips and burger and chips. These are stonkingly fat chippies with the skins left on, melt in the mouth, sex on a plate. Get down there and get some”. Lawrence Brown
“A great pub just down the end of Great Ormond Street - they have an affordable menu (£7-£10 for mains) and serve simple dishes well. Their chips are hand-cut and crispy, golden on the darker side - which for me is always a winner.” Lawrence
“The chips here are gorgeous. Fat, crispy, fluffy inside and still crispy after about an hour. The only downside is the Anchor & Hope only serve them with their rib of beef and that’s not always on the menu as it changes so often.” - Sandra Wigg
“Thin, crispy frites, taste of potato and complement the steak and bearnaise sauce perfectly.” - Sandra Wigg
“Very traditional. Don’t need to douse them in gravy for the dodgy ones! Bloody cheap. They taste so good you’d think it was healthy - yum yum. They sell great pickled eggs. Oh and the only down side is they are way too big on their portions.” - Steve Alderson
“Very crunchy, not too fatty, you get a lot for your money and they’re great pub food - they soak up the beer amazingly well!” - Rik
“There’s a lot of hot air about mega chips par-boiled then something else done to them. What this place does well is fry them for absolutely ages. This takes raw potato out of the equation. And the taste is amazing, it’s like a good roast potato: nearly see through and as crispy as crisps. This is well worth a visit. Their chicken balls are amazing too.” - Hugh McCallion
